  • Kos has one international port for ferry arrivals and departures. Bodrum operates two ports: the old harbor in the city center and the new cruise port, located about 1 km outside the center.

  • The busiest travel days are typically Tuesdays and Fridays, due to local markets and public holidays in Turkey or Greece, such as Bayram.

  • Tickets can be purchased online in advance or directly at the port on the day of travel.

  • Ticket prices vary slightly depending on the vessel type, onboard comfort, and crossing duration.

A high-speed ferry (30 minutes) offering up to 4 daily connections during the summer season. Operated by a local Greek company, timetables are not published online in advance. Tickets can be booked only through local agencies or directly at the vessel, which is usually moored at Kos Town port in the evening.
Some weekly sailings depart at 11:00 am with a return at 6:00 pm, allowing passengers to avoid early-morning queues. Excellent for relaxed day trips.

A standard ferry departing from Bodrum with a crossing time of approximately 1 hour. It operates one daily service and is generally more affordable than fast catamarans. A good option for day trips from Bodrum at a lower cost.

This vessel offers morning departures from Bodrum. From Kos, it sails in the morning to Turgutreis (approx. 20 minutes) and in the afternoon to Bodrum (around 30 minutes), with a convenient 6:00 pm departure.

A standard ferry operating a daily connection from Bodrum, with a crossing time of approximately 1 hour. In addition to passengers, it can also transport a limited number of cars and motorcycles.
This service is convenient for road trips, but please note that rental vehicles cannot be transported. It is therefore not possible to rent a car or scooter in Kos and return it in Bodrum, or vice versa. On line booking here.

Can I enter Turkey with an identity card?

For many EU citizens, it is possible to travel to Turkey using only a valid national identity card. No visa is required for short stays of one or more days.

However, port taxes are mandatory and must be paid in cash at the port of departure prior to boarding.

Useful Tips for Spending a Day in Bodrum

  • When you arrive at the old port, start your day by visiting Bodrum Castle. Spend about an hour exploring the castle and take some time to relax in its large garden while enjoying a traditional Turkish tea.
  • If you’re interested in experiencing a Turkish hammam, the municipal one located in front of the central station is only a 10-minute walk from the port. The hammam costs €20 and lasts for 45 minutes.
  • Take a moment to admire the view of one of the mosques in the port area, which is open to the public outside of prayer hours.
  • Stroll along Neyzen Caddesi, where you can enjoy the sight of beautiful Turkish gulets, and continue to the Galeria della Marina, which features exclusive shops.
  • For lunch, stop by one of Bodrum’s famous kebab places, such as Nokta Döner Restaurant. Afterward, you can explore the Bazaar inside the castle for some shopping.

If you’re considering a day trip from Kos to Bodrum, it might be worthwhile to spend the night. A day sailing on a gulet among Turkey’s stunning bays, followed by an evening of shopping and nightlife in Bodrum or the trendy Yalıkavak, can be a fantastic experience.
